16 Week Chalkboard Update and Ultrasound Pics!

Monday, February 27, 2012

I know what I have been a blog posting crazed person this week but I guess it's a mix of excitement for my baby boy, bed rest, and this cold I have going on!! But I did forget to post my weekly chalkboard post and we have the ultra sound pictures of our sweet baby boy! Enjoy!!

Nursery Inspiration

Okay now that we know we are having a boy, Kiko and I got right on designing a nursery. For those of you who know Kiko and I, we met while working for an airline and are both still in the aviation field. We love all things airplanes and helicopters. If it flies, we love it. Our daughter, Alli, had lots of aviation things when she was born but this is our chance to make the aviation room of our dreams. We have already picked out the bedding, curtains, crib and my dear dear friend Laura is making a board of fun vintage aviation things for behind the crib. We are well on our way to getting this nursery together and we have only known the sex for 3 days!

Like most people, I LOVE pinterest. I found some fun things but I hate things that look or scream "I'm a baby room". I don't like things that are too themed. So when looking for stuff for the nursery, I wanted something that the baby could keep for many years and not just the first year of his life. Mission Accomplished! Once we knew what direction we were going on, I looked online for bedding and other things that go into the room. I found my bedding at Pottery Barn Kids (which is also where the crib is from). I found bed sheets that I love but I wanted them to be curtains so I will have someone make them into curtains. I found those on Etsy.com (the best website ever). I will slowly get other things for the room but I'm off to a great start! I always welcome advice!

16 Weeks!!

Sunday, February 26, 2012

This week has been filled with anticipation. We found out what we are having this week, but my appointment wasn't until Friday at 3:00 p.m. It was not easy to wait that entire week because it seemed to be the slowest week yet. I tried my hardest to keep busy so I wouldn't think about it all week, but it's easier said than done when you are on bed rest and only work 4 hours a day! (Which is killing me because I am head over heels about my job and I want to be there all day, but I do know it's best). I did figure out a way to keep my mind a little busy. I was getting ready for our "Gender Reveal" photo that Heather Natalie
Photography graciously said yes to doing for us. It was a last minute request because we didn't know hard in advanced that we would be finding out what the baby was that week. She ALWAYS works things out. She has done our family photos and gender reveal. Next we will be doing our maternity, newborn, and more family photos. Then once this little baby is one, he will be going to her for a "smash cake" photo shoot! She always has such fun ideas. We would never use another person! Plus, Alli adores her! If you live in Florida, or are coming down here for vacation and want great family photos or kid photos or baby or boudoir or engagement or anything, she's the person to do it! Her website is www.HeatherNataliePhotography.com . She is also on Facebook. Here is the link :
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002387579054. Go "Like" her!

So the day of the baby reveal came and my stomach was in knots all day! When I found out that I was pregnant I immediately thought "It's a boy", but with the track record of my husbands family a girl was more likely. We already have a beautiful little girl so I would have been happy with another princess. I was hoping that there would be some chance that it was a boy so I could have one of each and be done!

I got done work at noon and headed home to make sure Kiko and Alli were ready for our gender reveal photo shoot right after our appointment and we were also waiting for my Mother In Law to get home from work so she could come with us. Once Maria (my MIL) got to our house, we were off to the appointment. My Sister-In-Law, Vanessa, met us there. It was so nice to have family there with Kiko, Alli, and I. I tried to get our Skype to work so my mom could see but that was a no-go so I called her. I wanted my mom to be a part of it too! We started the ultrasound and little baby Vargas started yawning. It was already sick of us! Lisa, the ultrasound tech, got really great pictures of the profile and his little hand. Seeing your baby moving around is such an incredible experience and I got to share that with my family. It was a perfect moment. When it came time to see what Baby Vargas Dos was, it was sitting Indian style. Of course! Lisa moved it around a little so we could get a peek. I immediately saw what it was and yelled out "Omg, It's a BOY!". Then, I immediately look at Kiko. I have never seen him smile so big! Everyone in the room and on the phone were so exited. I will never forget that moment. Alli was yelling" I'm going to have a brother". (Which is great for her. No competition!).

I can't wait to have a little boy in our family. He will complete us entirely. And as Kiko said, "the balance of power is now even.

Now the name war really begins............

15 Weeks

Saturday, February 18, 2012

This week has been a great week. Yes, I am tired but I am really starting to feel like myself again. I can do more outings without feeling like I just ran a marathon. Also, this week Kiko started to play the "name game". I have realized that this poor little baby will be "Baby Vargas" for the rest of it's life because we will never be able to agree on a name. The "name game" has turned into the "name war". It's a good thing 16 weeks means finding out what the baby is for us! I'm sure the "name war" will get even worse. Naming Allison was easy. I wish I could say the same for this one!

My health is also on the up and up. My blood pressure is coming close to normal! That is what I have been waiting for. Hopefully soon I will get the "go-ahead" to start really working out again. I have a serious itch to visit Jessica at Goddess Rising Fitness. Their classes for full of energy, makes you feel great about yourself, and the instructors are all amazing! If you are live near Deltona, FL, I suggest you go there and try it out! You will be HOOKED! You can find their websites here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Goddess-Rising-Fitness-Dance-Studio/151163771592858 and here : http://goddessrisinginc.com/ . Jessica Sanchez also does personal training! She and I coach together. She is a great motivator if you need someone to keep you going!

How far along? 15 weeks 1 day.
Total weight gain/loss: I have gained 3lbs.
Maternity clothes? Maxi Dresses are my friend!
Stretch marks? No!
Sleep: I take a lot of naps so I guess I sleep pretty good.
Best moment this week: Allison and I got to make things for Valentines day for Kiko. That was so much. I love craft time with her.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? We went out to a dueling piano bar and it would have been nice to have wine!
Movement: I feel flutters.
Food cravings: Still lemonade and now fruit!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Broccoli and I normally like it.
Have you started to show yet: Yes, but I still get those looks like "is she really pregnant or fat".

14 Weeks!

Sunday, February 12, 2012

This week has become a turning point for us. Bed rest is finally paying off. My blood pressure has started to go up and I'm FINALLY starting to gain a little weight. I had a doctors appointment and Alli got to help with the doppler so we could hear the baby's heart beat. She was so excited that she got to help. She really is trying to be a great big sister already. Plus, hearing the baby's heart beat is always an amazing experience.

This week was fun for us. Alli got to go to Seaworld for the first time. She loved to see the shows. Now she wants to go back every week. Then the week got even better for her. My father-in-law came in from Puerto Rico. Alli just loves him. She is so happy when he is here. I'm glad that he can come up and see my belly grow. He has 3 granddaughters and makes each one of them feel like gold.

I look forward to the next few weeks. I am started to feel like myself again so that gives me a little hope that I will be back to normal (well as normal as I can possible come close to) so I can enjoy the beach, workout, travel, take our babymoon to St.Thomas, and make lots of trips to Ohio!

How far along? 14 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: I am now up 3 pounds! So that means only 10 more pounds until I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight!
Maternity clothes? I'm finding long maxi dresses and longer shirts to wear. I'm okay with just my black maternity pants. I'm waiting to go to Ohio to shop!!
Stretch marks? No! I hope I can say that every week!
Sleep: In the last week, my sleep pattern has been off and on because my belly is now getting bigger.
Best moment this week: I got to hear the little heart beat and Alli got to help. I love that sound.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? I just miss having energy but I'm sure now that I'm in my second trimester I will get it back.
Movement: I feel little flutters.

Looking forward to: Beach season! It's only officially a few weeks away!

13 Weeks and Finally the Second Trimester!

Friday, February 3, 2012

FINALLY! I'm in my second trimester! I have been waiting patiently for this week. With all of the problems in the first trimester, I'm hoping we leave those problems there and the rest of this pregnancy is smooth sailing. This week has been challenging to say the least. I finally learned that I really do need to listen to my doctor. My doctors office is getting to know me. My blood pressure dropped yet again. I was very dehydrated and lost more weight. So, my rest just got more serious. Kiko is now the "rest police". I come home from work and head straight to my big comfy bed. Kiko has been amazing taking care of cleaning and cooking. (Let's be honest though, it's not like I did a lot of that anyway). I am really looking forward to gaining weight and being a normal person again!

How far along? 13 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: -16lbs. I now have to gain 10lbs to feel normal again.
Maternity clothes? I still just have the one pair of black maternity pants but they really are super comfy.
Stretch marks? None! I plan to keep it that way.
Sleep: Like a baby!! All I do is work and rest!
Best moment this week: It was my birthday! Kiko made the weekend so awesome for me.
Have you told family and friends: Yes.
Miss Anything? Acting like a normal human!
Movement: I'm positive I feel little flutters.
Food cravings: Still tacos!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I have great medicine so I don't get sick now!
Have you started to show yet: Yes, out of no where! I literally woke up and was shocked.
Gender prediction: I still have no idea but I would be so happy with a boy or a girl.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Still sleepy!
Weekly Wisdom: GET A PREGNANT PILLOW!!!!!!!!!! It will help you sleep like a baby! I promise!
Looking forward to: Gaining weight so I can act like a normal person again!

12 Week Check Up!

On January 26, we went in for our 12 week ultrasound. Alli and Kiko went with me. I love watching Allison look at the screen and try to figure out whats going on in my uterus. Everything looked great with Baby Vargas Dos. It looks like a little cage fighter bouncing around in there.

Thank goodness I only have a week left until I'm in my second trimester. This first trimester has not been easy. So far, I have lost 16 lbs (and I had no weight to drop in the first place). Because I lost so much weight, my blood pressure dropped very low. I should be around 120/90 and I am 85/50. Not good! I'm on a modified bedrest. I can only be on my feet for 6 hours and not at a time.

I am very positive that I will gain the weight that I need to! I just need to listen to my doctor and Kiko and listen to what they say!

How far along? 12 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: -14 .... morning sickness is no joke.
Maternity clothes? I just have a pair of black maternity pants. Trying to hold off.
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: I want to sleep all day every day!
Best moment this week: Having Alli at our 12 week ultrasound!
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Wine! Sometimes you just need a glass.
Movement: Not yet.
Food cravings: Tacos and salad.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Eggs, air, coffee, men from other countries with too much cologne that come into my office.
Have you started to show yet: Very tiny jump.
Gender prediction: I seriously have no clue.
Labor Signs: No.
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Sleepy!
Weekly Wisdom: If you feel so sick that you don't want to eat (even if you don't actually throw up) tell your doctor so you can get some medicine! It helps!
Looking forward to: Gaining weight so my blood pressure goes up and all of these problems go away!

Alli has an announcement!

Finding Out... from Kiko's Point of View.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Alright, it's my turn now.

After another long day at work, I think I worked a couple extra hours as an agent for a little extra bump on the paycheck since it was close to the end of the pay period, I finally got home.  I was tired.  I had been up since 3:00 am.  I was ready to eat dinner then go to bed.  I walk in to the apartment, greeted by my daughter's "Daddy!!!" and Bethany watching "The Real Housewives of (IDGAF)."  Out of nowhere, Bethany hands me a small box wrapped in wrapping paper.  Keep in mind, my birthday had just passed the week prior.  I had originally thought that since she just got paid on Friday and she was getting me a present.  I was pretty tired so I had put the box on the counter and was going to just proceed in, give my family their kisses, get some food, take a shower, then I would open it up.

Bethany saw that and said that I had to open it up now.  I was absolutely speechless when I saw the test.  Bethany did not think my reaction was enough, but anyone who knows me knows I don't show much emotion.  I was so thrilled.  I was so scared at the same time.  I could never, and am still trying to figure out how life will be with two little ones.  I'm sure I'm in for a wild ride the next nine months.

I can't wait for all of Bethany's ups, downs, cravings, mood swings, and fat ankles.  Oh shit.
